Looks and Package
As we all know the ROG boards have the best packaging compared to any other series. This beast also comes with a good amount of accessories. As soon as we opened the package it gave an eyegasm. The beauty of this board took my heart away.
As soon as we open the velcro flop we get a bunch of info. about the motherboard
When we open the pack we get two separate boxes one containing the accessories and the other containing the "Beast".
Package includes a User Guide, I/O shield, 6 X SATA 6Gbp/s cables, 3 way SLI bridge, 1 X SLI bridge, 1 X Crossfire cable, 2 in 1 Q-connectors, a ROG cable(which can be used to tune and OC your rig from a tablet or a laptop). It also includes a sheet of adhesive labeling for the HDDs and Odds
The motherboard is standard ATX board measuring 12" x 9.6" despite its long list of features this board contains 4 PCIE slots, massive heat-sinks, on-board buttons, and debug lights. The board is a Red and Black color scheme with some touches of white and gray.
The back of the board is a bit different from any other 990FX I have seen; this board has additional VRM components and a thick metal back-plate for securing heat-sinks.
This board is capable of up to 3-Way SLI or 3-Way CrossFireX and Quad GPU SLI setup, thanks to the 4x PCIE 2.0 slots. This thing can overclock your memory upto 2400mhz and upto 32GB memory is supported.
Let's turn to the rear I/O of this board. 1 x PS/2 keyboard/mouse combo port(s), 2 x eSATA 6Gb/s, 1 x LAN (RJ45) port(s), 4 x USB 3.0, 8 x USB 2.0 (one port can be switched to ROG Connect), 1 x Optical S/PDIF out, 6 x Audio jack(s), 1 x Clear CMOS button, 1 x ROG Connect On/ Off switch. The last feature 'ROG Connect' is unique to ASUS. Through a USB cable and activation via the ROG Connect, you can monitor system conditions and make hardware level changes from your laptop or a tablet.
This beauty requires an 8-pin + 4-pin CPU power connectors to power the Extreme Engine DiGi+ II with 8+2+2 DiGi Phase VRM which is a powerful combination of analog and digital design elements. Same type of digital design controls the memory power phases offering a stable memory operation as well as great memory overclocking.
This board also features SupremeFX III 8-channel, High Definition Audio CODEC with gold plated jacks and1500uf audio power capacitors, delivers enhanced sonic performance. The audio section is isolated from whole motherboards with red led strip on the board which lights up when the board is turned on it looks sick.
Just go get this thing if you are going for a AMD build. This board crushes every board in the market.
