MSI GTX 1660Ti Gaming X 6G Review

On 22 Feburary 2019, Nvidia released a GPU based on a brand-new NVIDIA's 12th generation Turing GPU architecture TU116 in form of NVIDIA GTX 1660Ti graphics card. It includes all of the new Turing Shader innovations that improve performance and efficiency, allowing gamers to experience 1080P at 120fps in popular online shooter games.
Today we are reviewing GTX 1660Ti based graphics card from MSI, the MSI GTX 1660Ti Gaming X 6G, a 6GB GDDR6 graphics card from MSI's iconic dual fan GAMING series. Combining a mix of black and gunmetal grey with a classy brushed metal backplate, this masterpiece provides you premium design with magnificent and smooth RGB light effects on the outside.
Now let's see what this MSI GTX 1660Ti has for us.

  • Boost Clock / Memory Speed
    1875 MHz / 12 Gbps
  • 6GB GDDR6
  • DisplayPort x 3 / HDMI x 1

Twin Frozr 7 Thermal Design

  • TORX Fan 3.0
    - Dispersion fan blade: Steep curved blade accelerating the airflow.
    - Traditional fan blade: Provides steady airflow to massive heat sink below.
  • Mastery of Aerodynamics: The heatsink is optimized for efficient heat dissipation, keeping your temperatures low and performance high.
  • Zero Frozr technology: Stopping the fan in low-load situations, keeping a noise-free environment.

RGB Mystic Light

  • Customize colors and LED effects with exclusive MSI software and synchronize the look & feel with other components.

Dragon Center

  • A consolidated platform that offers all the software functionality for your MSI Gaming product.

A brand new version of the iconic MSI TORX fan pushes the limits of thermal performance yet further than before. The new trims clearly visible on the traditional fan blade create a focused airflow which in turn is pushed down by the dispersion fan blades for increased static pressure.

In our quest to provide the best cooling, we have mastered the art of Aerodynamics. Airflow Control Technology guides the airflow directly onto the heatpipes, while simultaneously creating more surface area for the air to absorb more heat before leaving the heatsink.

To temper the heat generated by a powerful GPU, MSI GAMING series graphics cards use a solid nickel-plated copper base plate. The base plate catches the heat from the GPU and transfers it to the heat pipes for dissipation so you can keep cool.

With the convenience of Mystic Light Sync, you can control RGB LED solutions from other brands, such as CPU coolers, keyboards and mice or RGB system fans.

MSI Afterburner is the world's most recognized and widely used graphics card Overclocking software. It gives you full control of your graphics card and enables you to monitor your system's key metrics in real-time.

The MSI GAMING X GTX 1660Ti comes in a box securely packaged with actual product picture and Gaming X graphics and features highlights on front and the back of the box.

Inside the box

Along with the GFX card box also includes Software installation CD and quick start guide.

MSI GAMING GTX X 1660Ti is looking great with a black/grey colour scheme and having three DisplayPort output and one HDMI port.

Removing the cooler reveals one big finely milled copper base plate with three copper heat pipes fused inside. Heatpipes are connected with an array of aluminum fin stack and two 80 mm brushless fans for cooling.

  • Nice Cooling Solution
  • Very silent
  • Low power consumption
  • RGB Lighting

  • Expensive
  • With slightly more money one can buy RTX 2060

MSI GeForce GTX 1660Ti Gaming X 6G is having a new GPU from Nvidia offering decent gaming experience at 1080p and 1440p resolutions, offering somewhat about 9-12% less performance than MSI GTX 1070Ti and RTX 2060 cards.

Now the disappointing point is the price of MSI GeForce GTX 1660Ti Gaming X card which is approx 30K whereas on other hand one can buy MSI RTX 2060 card for about 33.5K, which will definitely make gamers to go for RTX 2060 card instead of GTX1660Ti.

Still if you want to buy a GTX 1660Ti card, than the MSI GeForce GTX 1660Ti Gaming X 6G is one of the coolest, quietest and fastest GTX 1660Ti option for you.
